Make college more affordable by paying for tuition and fees over time. Tuition payment plans break down your tuition balance into affordable monthly payments. There’s no interest, payment options are flexible, setup fees are affordable, and it’s easy to enroll!
Payment Plan Information
Payment Methods
- Automatic bank payment (ACH)
- Credit card/debit card
Payments are processed automatically on the 5th of each month.
Cost to Participate
- $34 enrollment fee per semester
- $2 enrollment fee for an immediate full payment
- $30 nonrefundable returned payment fee if a payment is returned
A $100 minimum balance is required to budget through the payment plan.
Simple Steps to Enroll
- Go to www.SMSU.edu and click on the menu button on the upper left side of the screen
- Log in to E-Services with your Star ID and password
- Click on Bills and Payments
- Click on Nelnet/FACTS Payment Plan

Balance Adjustments
Please do not assume your balance will automatically be adjusted if financial aid is received or a class is dropped or added. You should review your agreement balance online through the Nelnet Payment Plan or call the Southwest Minnesota State University Business Office at 507.537.7117 to confirm the change.
